My name is Martin Jones. I am an illustrator, designer, music producer and DJ, Living in Bristol, UK. I am massively influenced by weird 80s tv, haunting nostalgia, 90’s comedy, anything mysterious & uncanny. Under the moniker ‘Martipants’, I’ve worked as a designer for creative agencies producing work for WARNER BROS, HBO, THE ROYAL MINT, ROLAND, MATTEL. I have created music for Channel 5 and been a support DJ for the likes of Zombie Zombie, Daedelus, PVT, Gold Panda, DJ Yoda, Ugly Duckling and Micheal Winslow (from Police Academy) as well as producing two of my own full length albums (available on iTunes).
I grew up in Swansea in Wales. I found it challenging, due to the culture being very focused on competing and trying to ‘one-up’ each other. When I was 15, I discovered Skateboarding which allowed me to be myself, learn about creativity and collaborate with loads of diverse people. It started to make me look at things in a different way and really see the hidden potentials that most people tend to overlook.
I was always sketching and making collages, from the skate magazines that were available. They were always full of brilliant photography and warpy visuals, it was hard not to be inspired. Skateboarding was such a rich and diverse thing to be apart of. It’s without doubt, the most important turning point in my life and fundamental, in forming my creative future.
Hopefully my site has things that might challenge your brain and make you see things a bit differently! Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.
